Council of Elders
Thornapple Covenant Church annually elects the "Council of Elders" to serve as the board of directors and legal trustees of this Church and its property. They meet the third Thursday of every month.
The Elders of Thornapple are here to serve. Please contact them at any time if you have concerns or ideas you would like them to be aware of. Refer to the end of the article below for ways you can contact the elders.
Here is the portion of our church bylaws connected to the Council of Elders:
ARTICLE VIII - CHURCH GOVERNANCE
Section 1. Control; Council of Elders. The ultimate authority for the governance of this Church shall be vested in its membership, which shall not be subject to control by any other ecclesiastical body. The Active Members of this Church shall elect Active Members to serve as “Elders” on the “Council of Elders” for the term of office and following the election process provided in this Church’s Bylaws. The Council of Elders shall serve as the board of directors and legal trustees of this Church and its property.

On Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Annual Meeting, the following members were voted into positions for 2010:
• Council of Elders: James Ernest, Kae Kingma, Jonathan Petersen and Terry Shoemaker
• Financial Secretary: Joe Nutt
• Nominating Committee: Susan Eastburg, Doug Lunde and Gail Mortenson
• Audit Committee: Francis Wong
