Weather/Snow Updates

When Thornapple Covenant Church needs to close due to inclement weather it will be posted here.

Here is our Weather Policy:

Thornapple Covenant Church will follow the procedures below when inclement weather (snow, ice, power outage, etc.) may threaten cancellation of our church activities/services.

1. Sunday Morning Worship and Children, Student and Adult Programs:

The first place a closing will be posted is on the Thornapple website at www.thornapple.org on the Weather/Snow Updates page.

We will also post closings on Wood TV 8 and WZZM13.  We will attempt to put a message on the church answering machine by 8:00am on Sunday morning. If you do not get the message from radio, TV, the answering machine, or the web site, please feel free to call one of our Elders. More often than not, if there is no morning service, there will be no other activities for the remainder of Sunday.

2. Wednesday evening activities:

If Forest Hills School District has closed for students or let out early due to weather conditions, our evening activities will be canceled for all of our students. Adults should check with the Church Office prior to 5:00 PM to see if their activity is cancelled. If the inclement weather begins after school closes for the day, follow the same procedures listed for Sunday services. A decision will be made by 5:00pm by the Minister to Students and the Director of Children’s Ministries. You can check our web site, Wood TV 8 or WZZM13 for updates.  If in doubt, call the Church Office or an Elder.

3. Additional Information:

We urge other groups that meet on other days of the week to follow the same schedule. It is the responsibility of the group/organization/class leader to notify its participants and the Church Office if the schedule will not be followed for any given event.

Health and safety in route and on Thornapple premises should always be the top priority for all Staff and congregational members, especially the young drivers of our congregation.   As always, if you feel that conditions are not good for you to travel, we encourage you to stay home.
