When Thornapple needs to close due to inclement weather we post closing information here
No closings at this time.
WOOD TV8 ALERT SYSTEM: Since we post our closings on WoodTV8 you might want to consider signing up for their alert system. If you do sign up, simply list Thornapple Covenant Church as the organization you want alerts on. By doing that, when we post a closing, you would get an email or text about it from WoodTV8. Here is our Weather Policy:
Thornapple Covenant Church will follow the procedures below when inclement weather (snow, ice, power outage, etc.) may threaten cancellation of our church activities/services.
1. Sunday Morning Worship and Children, Student and Adult Programs:
When Thornapple has to close due to inclement weather it will be posted on the Thornapple website on this page. We will also post closings on Wood TV 8 and WZZM13. If you do not get the message from TV or our web site, please feel free to call one of our Elders or Staff. More often than not, if there is no morning service, there will be no other activities for the remainder of Sunday.
2. Wednesday evening activities:
If Forest Hills School District has closed for students or let them out early due to weather conditions, our day and evening activities will be canceled. Adults should check this webpage or with the Church Office prior to 3:00 PM to see if their activity is canceled. If the inclement weather begins after school closes for the day, follow the same procedures listed for Sunday services. A decision will be made by 3:00pm by the Minister to Students and the Director of Children’s Ministries. You can check here, Wood TV 8 or WZZM13 for updates. If in doubt, call the Church Office or an Elder or Staff member.
3. Additional information:
We urge other groups that meet on other days of the week to follow the same schedule. It is the responsibility of the group/organization/class leader to notify its participants and the Church Office if the schedule will not be followed for any given event.
Health and safety in route and on Thornapple premises should always be the top priority for all staff and congregational members, especially the young drivers of our congregation. As always, if you feel that conditions are not good for you to travel, we encourage you to stay home.
